Which VUNRO Grooming Comb Fits Your Work?
Compare every current VUNRO hand-comb option by working span, spacing and the task it will serve.

A grooming comb should suit the section you can safely access and the job you want to do. Length, shape and pin layout are useful selection features. None removes the need to assess preparation, coat condition and the dog's tolerance.
This guide covers the fourteen current VUNRO hand-comb options checked on 2 October 2026. It does not cover clipper attachment guards. Product names are retained so you can compare the correct records; availability and specifications can change.
Start with three practical questions
Which sections do you regularly work on? What working span can you control comfortably? Do you need a straight outline-checking tool, a curved approach, section organisation or suitable loose-coat work? A specific answer is more useful than buying every shape.
Coarser and finer sections give different access. Do not force a finer section through resistance to prove the coat is ready. Investigate preparation and suitability, and stay within your training. A tool name is not a safe mat-removal instruction.
The current hand-comb range
6.5-inch Coarse and Fine Crescent Finishing Comb
A curved working shape with two spacings, worth considering for accessible contour work when its curve suits your approach.
6-inch Double-Skip Pin Comb
A shorter working span for controlled access to suitable sections; assess the actual coat rather than treating removal as a quota.
8.5-inch Double-Skip Pin Comb
A broader span where the section and access justify it; it is not automatically preferable for small contours.
9-inch Straight Coarse and Fine Split-Pin Finishing Comb
A long straight option with two working spacings for sections that can be comfortably accessed and supported.
8.5-inch Angled-Pin Detangling and Finishing Comb
An angled-pin layout to assess against your working approach; do not infer an effortless detangling result from the name.
8.5-inch Combination Detangling and Finishing Comb
A combination layout for groomers wanting distinct working sections in one tool. Check the current dimensions before ordering if exact span matters.
5-inch Coarse and Fine Straight Comb
A compact straight option for access where a long spine is cumbersome. Shorter does not mean safe to work out of sight.
6-inch Brass Double-Skip Pin Comb
A brass-finish alternative in a shorter double-skip layout. Finish alone does not establish less static or better performance.
6.5-inch LUX Crescent Finishing Comb
A LUX option for groomers who want the crescent form and coarse/fine sections. Compare the actual shape with the job.
7-inch LUX Pintail Comb
A tail for controlled section organisation plus a compact combing section. Keep the tail clear of skin and eyes; it is not a probe.
6-inch LUX Double-Skip Pin Comb
A LUX double-skip layout for suitable loose-coat work. Reassess access, resistance and welfare before continuing.
7.5-inch LUX Coarse and Fine Straight Comb
A straight LUX option with two spacings for groomers choosing a manageable working span.
8-inch LUX Coarse and Fine Straight Comb
A longer straight LUX option for appropriate broad sections; choose it for usable reach and control.
9.5-inch LUX Coarse and Fine Straight Comb
The longest named straight LUX option in this selection. Assess whether that span helps your regular work or limits access.
Choose between neighbouring sizes
Compare the area you can see and support, rather than assuming a larger comb saves time. A broad span may suit a broad accessible section; a compact option may offer clearer control around a smaller contour. Hand comfort and approach matter as well as the named length.
Where exact measurements matter, confirm the current product specification with VUNRO before ordering. Do not calculate working reach from the name alone. This guide avoids unsupported claims about coating effects, removal percentages or universal superiority.
Understand double-skip and finishing roles
Double-skip layouts belong in an assessed loose-coat routine, not a target to remove as much coat as possible. Stop or change the plan when additional work no longer serves the coat or welfare. Straight and crescent finishing options should be chosen for visible access and controlled coat presentation.
A pintail can help organise a suitable section, but does not belong in eyes, ears or against skin as a probing device. Any comb used near sensitive anatomy requires appropriate visibility and competence.
Build a purposeful selection
The Essential Comb Bundle combines selected styles and a protective pouch. Check its actual contents against the tools you already own and the jobs you need. A bundle is useful when its components have a role; it is not necessary to duplicate an effective kit.
Start with the most frequent task, then add a genuinely different capability if experience supports it. Keep your chosen tools clean, inspect pins and spine for damage, and follow supported care instructions. Colour and appearance do not prove mechanical fitness or disinfection.
Sources and scope
The linked current VUNRO records are the source for range identity and shapes. Lantra's styling standard supports suitable equipment, competence and welfare. Suggested uses are practical selection guidance, not comparative testing or a claim that any comb safely resolves every coat condition.
